Spring 2026 Workshops

HUM 110 Writing Workshop & Support
Tuesday, Feburary 3rd | 6 PM - 7 PM | Elliot 314 | Dustin Simpson

This workshop has two distinct parts. In the first part, I’ll introduce two fundamental principles for revising sentences for clarity: one focused on characters and one on actions. You’ll use these principles during the workshop to practice sentence-level revision, and they can inform how you revise all of your writing moving forward.

In the second part, we’ll shift our attention to the first paper of the semester for HUM 110. I’ll offer guidance on how to approach the assignment, followed by a Q&A session

Fall 2025 Workshops

Task of An Academic Paper
What are academic essays supposed to accomplish? Who are they written for? How are they structured? These are the questions I will explore with you by focusing on how students should "construct a problem" in their introductory paragraph (usually during the revision phase).

Logs and Exponents Workshop
Strengthen your understanding of exponents and logarithms through clear explanations, step-by-step problem-solving, and real-world applications. Ideal for students who want to feel more confident with these core math concepts.

What is Close Reading
In this workshop, we will work on our close reading skills by reading passages together and then discussing them. I will also share examples of effective use of quotation, paraphrase, summary and analysis. A good workshop to take before finishing your first paper for Hum 110

Algebra Review Workshop
Sharpen your core algebra skills—simplifying expressions, solving equations, using exponents, and applying order of operations. This session is great prep for math, science, or any course that relies on strong problem-solving basics.
